UK-based steelmaker Liberty Steel Group has announced that its subsidiary Liberty Pipes Hartlepool will supply 16.6 km of longitudinally submerged arc welded (LSAW) pipe to UK-based engineering company Subsea7 for the Yggdrasil and Valhall PWP-Fenris offshore oil and gas field development projects in the North Sea.

The production of the pipes will commence shortly and will continue throughout this year. The pipes will also be coated by Liberty Pipes Hartlepool prior to delivery.

This month, the company has become the first UK producer of pipelines for safe transportation and storage of hydrogen with its 42” submerged arc welded (SAW) line pipes, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
