Russian crude steel output increases in first 10 months

According to the State Statistics Committee of Russia (Russtat), in the January-October period of the current year Russia registered a 2.7 percent increase year on year in its crude steel production to 56.8 million mt.

In the given period, Russia produced 270 million mt of coal and 86 million mt of iron ore concentrate, up 3.2 percent and eight percent respectively compared to the same period last year. In the same period, Russia's metallurgical coke output went up by 1.9 percent year on year to 22.6 million mt.

In addition, in the first 10 months of 2011 In January-October, Russia saw a 15.5 percent increase in its steel pipe production to 8.6 million mt and a 3.7 percent rise in its finished steel output to 49.4 million mt. The country's production of pig iron went up by 0.5 percent year on year to 40.1 million mt during the first 10 months of 2011.
