German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp has announced that it will build a new twin ladle furnace at BOF melt shop 2 in Duisburg-Beeckerwerth, Germany to expand its product range to include innovative high-margin steel grades. ThyssenKrupp will invest around €40 million in the project which will have a capacity of 265 mt per treatment, while start of construction is planned for fall 2017.
According to ThyssenKrupp, the new twin ladle furnace will allow the steelmaker to expand its product portfolio to include high-alloy grades especially for the rising demand of the automotive industry.
