A senior executive from Turkish long steel producing group Diler Holding has informed SteelOrbis that the company's Dilovası rolling mill, which produces mesh quality wire rod, has now also started the production of debar in coil.
Commissioned in August 2008, Diler's Dilovası mill has an annual capacity of 500,000 mt of wire rod or 700,000 mt of debar. The company executive in question stated that the mill continues to operate at full capacity and receives orders for both debar in coil and wire rod. However, due to the increase in demand for debar in coil within the past month, the mill is focusing more on the production of this product.
Diler also has rebar mills, capable of producing rebars of 8-50 mm in diameter; however, orders received are mostly for 8-40 mm rebars. In the export markets, the company official stated that they have not observed any decline in terms of quantity. He added that Diler mostly sold to North Africa in the first six months of 2009, but also determines its export markets in line with incoming demand. Despite the volatility in the markets, the company official stated that, like all other Turkish steelmakers, Diler is flexible enough to quickly change the markets to which it exports in line with rising demand trends.
The company continues to use its own billets in its finished steel production, instead of exporting them, while 70-75 percent of the company's finished steel output is exported, with the result that the company is affected minimally by the demand contraction seen in the domestic market.
