Izmir-based longs producer Ege Celik is close to starting commercial flow-shop production at its new rebar mill, upon which construction commenced in August 2008.

The new mill with an annual production capacity 240,000 mt of 8-10 mm rebar will help Ege Celik to increase its current annual production capacity of 540,000 mt to around 800,000 mt.

Commenting on the new mill, Ege Celik sales and marketing manager Mete Adali said, "The mill will continue test-run hot rolling during the June-July period, and will commence flow-shop production in August."

According to Mr. Adali, the mill's equipment was supplied and installed by Izmir-based machinery producer CTS Makina, which primarily produces machinery for the iron and steel industry.

"Ege Celik also has an annual production capacity of 400,000 mt of wire rod. We currently have no investment plans regarding wire rod," Mr. Adali added.
