In June this year, Turkey’s pig iron imports amounted to 65,838 mt, down by 67.2 percent year on year and by 62.0 percent compared to May, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey’s pig iron imports in the given month fell by 77.9 percent year on year and by 64.0 percent month on month to $30.24 million.
Meanwhile, in the January-June period this year, Turkey’s pig iron imports amounted to 692,530 mt, down 10.5 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $329.89 million, decreasing by 34.8 percent compared to the same period of 2022.
In the given period, Turkey imported 433,229 mt of pig iron from Russia, down 2.8 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey’s pig iron import sources in the same period, followed by Ukraine which supplied 76,579 mt.
