Ukraine issues Jan-May 2009 export data

According to the data for the first five months of 2009, Ukrainian exports of steel pipes decreased by 31.6 percent to 543,990 mt, its semi-finished steel product exports dropped by 11.7 percent to 5.113 million mt, its exports of flat rolled steel decreased by 36.6 percent to 2.350 million mt, and its exports of long steel dropped by 39.3 percent to 1.864 million mt, all compared to the corresponding period of 2008.

On the other hand, in January-May 2009 Ukraine registered a 63.5 percent decrease in its ferroalloy exports year on year and a 29.7 fall in its ferrous scrap exports. The respective figures in metric tons were 181,630 and 196,770.

Meanwhile, in the first five months of 2009 Ukraine's coke exports fell by 2.4 percent to 342,580 mt while its pig iron exports declined by 5.1 percent to 554,870 mt, both compared to the same period last year.
