Union plans strike at Mexican pipe manufacturer Tenaris Tamsa

Wednesday, 10 January 2018 23:13:29 (GMT+3)   |   Sao Paulo

A Mexican union is planning a strike at local pipe manufacturer Tenaris Temsa sometime in March if its requests are not met, according to a media report.

The union, known as Sindicato Nacional Unidad y Progreso, negotiates on a regular basis for increased pay and benefits under a collective contract agreement. This year workers claim increased wages should be linked to inflation.

In May 2017, Tenaris Tamsa had to add another shift to meet production levels, following a strike that led to violent demonstrations, which in turn killed two people and wounded several others.
