US HDG imports down 9.2 percent in April from March

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of hot dipped galvanized sheets totaled 235,511 mt in April this year, down 9.2 percent from March and down 62.5 percent from April last year. By value HDG imports totaled $283.4 million in April this year, compared to $307.5 million in the previous month and $187.3 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most HDG from Canada in April, with 82,378 mt, compared to 84,798 mt in March and 76,389 mt in April last year. Other top sources of imported HDG in March include Vietnam, with 47,054 mt; Mexico, with 31,551 mt; South Korea, with 11,741 mt; and Brazil, with 10,720 mt.
