US iron and steel scrap exports up 3.1 in October from September

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,192,724 mt in October this year, up by 3.1 percent month on month and down 2.9 percent year on year.

Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in October with 382,468 mt, up 3.1 percent month to month and down by 0.2 percent year on year. Other notable destinations in October included Bangladesh with 169,020 mt, Mexico with 201,218 mt, and Taiwan with 87,779 mt.

In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $502.9 million in October 2024, compared to $503.9 million in September and $616.6 million in October last year.
