US rig count decreases week on week, Canadian rig count up sharply

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending on July 12, 2024, the US rotary rig count decreased by one to 584.

The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by one to 100, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by one to 478. The overall US rig count is down by 91 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 14 week on week to 189 rigs in the week ending July 12. The Canadian rig count decreased by 10 rigs compared to the same reporting period in the previous year.
