US rig count drops while Canadian count rises

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending June 14, 2024, the US rotary rig count decreased by four rigs to 590 as compared to the previous week.

The number of rigs drilling for gas remained unchanged at 98, while the number of rigs drilling for oil went down by four to 488, week on week. The overall US rig count is down by 97 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 17 week on week to 160 rigs in the week ending June 14. The Canadian rig count is now up by one rig compared to the same reporting period in the previous year.
