Vietnam’s steel output and sales decrease in Jan-Apr

According to the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA), in April this year finished steel production in Vietnam totaled 2.17 million mt, decreasing by 9.66 percent compared to the previous month and down by 26.3 percent compared to April 2022, while the country’s steel product sales in the same month decreased by 8.32 percent compared to March and fell by 15.1 percent year on year to 2.03 million mt.

In the January-April period, steel production in Vietnam decreased by 22.4 percent year on year to 8.86 million mt, while the country’s steel sales fell by 23.1 percent year on year to 8.1 million mt.

Meanwhile, in March this year, Vietnam’s imports of finished steel increased by 55.26 percent compared to the previous month and were up by 18.52 percent year on year to 1.3 million mt, while the country’s exports of finished steel totaled 874,000 mt, up by 9.75 percent month on month and down by 8.6 percent year on year.
