Vietnam’s steel output and sales rise in H1

According to the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA), in June this year finished steel production in Vietnam totaled 2.46 million mt, increasing by 22.4 percent year on year, while the country’s steel product sales in the same month decreased by 7.53 percent compared to May and rose by 9.3 percent year on year to 2.36 million mt.

In the January-June period, steel production in Vietnam increased by 10.1 percent year on year to 14.43 million mt, while the country’s steel sales rose by 14.4 percent year on year to 14.27 million mt.

Meanwhile, in May this year, Vietnam’s imports of finished steel increased by 20.57 percent compared to the previous month and were up by 84.72 percent year on year to 1.55 million mt, while the country’s exports of finished steel totaled 1.12 million mt, up by 0.78 percent month on month and down by 1.37 percent year on year.
