Vietnam’s steel output and sales fall in Q1

According to the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA), in March this year finished steel production in Vietnam totaled 2.4 million mt, increasing by 2.25 percent compared to the previous month and down by 27.9 percent compared to March 2022, while the country’s steel product sales in the same month increased by 6.29 percent compared to February and fell by 29.0 percent year on year to 2.21 million mt.

In the January-March period, steel production in Vietnam decreased by 20.9 percent year on year to 6.69 million mt, while the country’s steel sales fell by 25.4 percent year on year to 6.07 million mt.

Meanwhile, in February this year, Vietnam’s imports of finished steel increased by 41.73 percent compared to the previous month and were down by 6.1 percent year on year to 840,000 mt, while the country’s exports of finished steel totaled 796,000 mt, up by 18.49 percent month on month and up by 31.79 percent year on year.
