According to sources, the last deal of slab export from Brazil was closed at $615/mt, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades, stable from last week, despite expectations of up to $645/mt for the shipments in July.
There are indications that at least one such deal was closed at $610/mt, under the same conditions.
In April, Brazil exported 384,600 mt and imported 24,000 mt of slabs, against respectively 484,700 mt and 72,700 mt in March.
In April, Ternium exported 162,100 mt at $731/mt to the US, while ArcelorMittal Tubarao exported 123,800 mt at $674/mt to the US, 36,700 mt at $679/mt to France, 29,900 mt at $664/mt to Germany, and 17,200 mt at $631/mt to Canada, while ArcelorMittal Pecem exported 14,900 mt at $636/mt to the US, all FOB conditions.
The import was of Japanese origin and destined to Usiminas, 24,000 mt at $550/mt, also FOB conditions.
