According to sources, Brazilian producers are negotiating slab export deals for shipments in April with a reference price of $670/mt, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades, stable from last week.
Due to the holidays this week in the country, it is not possible to confirm if any deal was effectively closed at such price level.
In January, Brazil exported 575,400 mt and imported 22,400 mt of slab, against respectively 466,100 mt and 27,400 mt in December.
In January, ArcelorMittal Tubarão exported 204,200 mt of slab at $655/mt to the US, 36,400 mt at $518/mt to Poland, 30,900 mt at $543/mt to Germany and 20,900 mt at $525/mt to France, while Ternium exported 218,100 mt at $601/mt to the US, ArcelorMittal Pecem exported 44,700 mt at $583/mt to South Korea and Gerdau exported 20,200 mt at $536/mt to the UK, all FOB conditions.
The import of 22,400 mt was from Japan, at $462/mt, FOB conditions, and destined to Usiminas.
