As of today, December 1, a few Turkish merchant bar re-rollers are offering prices at $650-660/mt, versus $630-650/mt FOB a week earlier, amid costlier import scrap and billet. Currently, official ex-Turkey equal angle offers are mostly standing at $650-660/mt FOB, for late December-January shipment. “Below $650/mt FOB may only be available for serious buyers depending on the region and the quantity, when the current billet prices are taken into account,” one source commented. Most international buyers are taking their time and are monitoring import scrap prices, while European buyers are also silent ahead of the holiday season.
The SteelOrbis daily Turkish billet import reference price stands at $525-550/mt, versus $525-537/mt a week ago.
