Over the past week, a few Turkish merchant bar re-rollers have remained unchanged amid sluggish international demand. Currently, official ex-Turkey equal angle offers are still standing at $610-630/mt FOB, for October shipment, while even slightly lower levels have also been heard depending on the region and quantity.
The SteelOrbis daily Turkish billet import reference price is available at $500-520/mt, versus $495-520/mt CFR a week ago.
“Most merchant bar re-rollers are taking their time before quoting any fresh offers due to the 20 percent increase in the electricity prices from October 1,” one source stated. Due to the additional energy costs, merchant bar export prices are expected to increase next week, though international buyers will need more time to adjust to any increases given the slowness of trading activity.
