Over the past week, a few Turkish merchant bar re-rollers have raised their export offers by an average of $15/mt to $640-650/mt FOB, amid the ongoing currency fluctuations and the positive sentiment in the import scrap and billet segments. Currently, official ex-Turkey equal angle offers are mostly standing at $640-650/mt FOB, for December shipment. Below $640/mt FOB is only valid for serious buyers, depending on the tonnage and region.
The SteelOrbis daily Turkish billet import reference price stands at $515-530/mt, versus $500-520/mt, a week ago. “Demand from the Balkan region is getting weaker ahead of the holiday season in December,” one source commented.
“Peru is one of the active market these days, while a few European and African buyers are also sending inquiries,” another source commented.
