Over the past week, Turkish official domestic merchant bar prices have fallen by TRY 45-100/mt ($7-9/mt) in the Karabuk and Iskenderun regions amid sluggish demand and the negative sentiment in the import scrap segment, while rising by TRY 200-350/mt in the Denizli and Izmir regions, with minor changes on US dollar basis. The main reason for such a price increase in the Denizli region is that transportation costs have risen by TRY 150/mt from TRY 250/mt to TRY 400/mt due to costlier fuel prices. In addition, one Iskenderun-based mill has set its equal angle price at TRY 19,650-19,960/mt ($630-640/mt) ex-works this week.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering either for March-April delivery or from stocks. A few re-rollers are also offering their HEA/HEB (550-700 mm, standard) at TRY 25,900/mt ($830/mt) for delivery to the Karabuk region.
