US import rebar market remains quiet

As sources report fresh dealmaking in the US domestic rebar market, interest in import rebar has dipped even further, leaving prices stable and booking activity tepid. Even on-the-ground material at Gulf-region ports, with tags still lower than US domestic material, isn’t getting much attention, and overall import spot supply is dwindling.

As such, offer prices for US import rebar are unchanged week-on-week, with offers from Egypt and Algeria still around $38.50-$39.50 cwt. ($849-$871/mt or $770-$790/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports, while offers from Mexico are still at $39.00-$40.00 cwt. ($860-$882/mt or $780-$800/nt) DDP Houston.
