With many US rebar buyers continuing to turn to domestic mills for material, interest in import rebar offers remains muted. As such, import rebar prices have trended neutral again this week, and although sources tell SteelOrbis that Algeria is re-entering the US import rebar market with some new offers after a months-long pause, prices are not “exceptionally low” and are reportedly close to Egyptian offers.

Offers for US import rebar from Egypt are still around $39.00-$40.00 cwt. ($860-$882/mt or $780-$800/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports. Offers from Mexico, meanwhile, are still ranging from $40.00-$41.00 cwt. ($882-$904/mt or $800-$820/nt) DDP Houston.
