Although sources report continued slight softness in the US domestic rebar market, import rebar offers have not moved in the last week, as interest remains “incredibly low.” Demand for rebar in the US remains high, however, and sources within the import market hope that continued positive trends in the US construction sector will soon translate to increased import bookings.

For now, US import rebar prices are stable at $38.50-$39.50 cwt. ($849-$871/mt or $770-$790/nt) DDP loaded truck in US Gulf ports from Algeria and Egypt, and $39.00-$40.00 cwt. ($860-$882/mt or $780-$800/nt) DDP Houston from Mexico.
