On September 21, SteelOrbis reported ex-CIS basic steelmaking pig iron offers at $370-380/mt FOB or $380-390/mt CFR US port, while low manganese or foundry grade pig iron offers were reportedly at $410-415/mt FOB or $420-425/mt CFR US port.
According to sources, prices for CIS origin basic steelmaking pig iron have declined and offers are presently at $370-385/mt CFR US port. This translates to approximately $360-375/mt FOB Baltic Sea. The updated CFR range translates to a price decrease of $10/mt from the bottom of the previously reported range and $5/mt from the top of the same range.
Low manganese pig iron or foundry grade are reportedly being offered at $400-405/mt FOB Baltic Sea for large cargoes but $410-412/mt FOB for smaller orders. These prices translate to $410-415/mt CFR for the larger cargoes and $420-422/mt CFR for the smaller cargoes. In CFR terms, the offer price is relatively stable for smaller cargoes, but it has declined $10/mt on the larger cargoes.
