Borusan Mannesmann to supply welded pipes for US natural gas line

Turkish steel pipe producer Borusan Mannesmann has announced that it has won a tender to supply a total of 321 km in length of welded pipes for a natural gas pipeline project to be constructed in the state of Pennsylvania in the US.
 
For the project, which is worth about $152 million, Borusan will supply all spiral welded steel pipes, to be produced at its facilities in Gemlik in northwestern Turkey, directly to Philadelphia Port in the US, from where they will be delivered to Pennsylvania.
 
For the project in question, the production of spiral pipes ranging in diameter between 30 inches and 42 inches, is expected to begin in the fourth quarter this, with shipment to be completed within 2016 if production goes according to plan.
 
Borusan stated that this project will the largest project in terms of volume undertaken by the company so far.
