Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 39 million mt in May this year, increasing 11 percent compared to the same month of 2017, according to the information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore exports in May totaled $1.54 billion in value, decreasing 6.4 percent year on year.
In May, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 452,490 mt, down by 54 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while these exports were valued at $246.3 million, decreasing by 42.6 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in May Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 175,118 metric tons, down by 36.2 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $131.4 million, down 25.4 percent from the May 2017 level.
