Brazil's iron ore exports up by 4.4 percent in August

Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 35.62 million mt in August this year, increasing 4.4 percent compared to the same month of 2017, according to the information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore exports in August totaled $1.64 billion in value, increasing 23 percent year on year.

In August, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 99,987 mt, down by 89.2 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while these exports were valued at $55.64 million, decreasing by 85.2 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in August Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 295,630 metric tons, down by 13.3 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $203.16 million, down 13.9 percent from the August 2017 level.
