In June this year, new car registrations totaled 1.6 million units in the European Union (EU), increasing 5.2 percent year on year, according to the latest figures issued by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).
In June, among the five big markets, France (+9.2%), Spain (+8.0%) and Germany (+4.2%) posted increases, while demand for cars declined in the United Kingdom (-3.5%) and Italy (-7.3%), all year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first half of this year new passenger car registrations in the EU increased to 8,449,247 units, up 2.9 percent year on year. In this period, demand for cars increased by 10.1 percent in Spain, by 4.7 percent in France and by 2.9 percent in Germany, although sales declined by 6.3 percent in the UK and by 1.4 percent in Italy.
