According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Indian motor vehicle production in February this year registered growth of 14.6 percent as compared to February 2011. In the first 11 months of the current Indian fiscal year (started April 1, 2011), India's motor vehicle output rose 14.6 percent over the same period of the previous year.
In February of the current year, motor vehicle sales in India increased by 12.5 percent year on year, while the country's motor vehicle sales recorded for April 2011-February 2012 increased by 12.1 percent, also year on year.
On the other hand, India's domestic sales of passenger cars in February this year rose by 13.1 percent compared to the same month of 2011, while total domestic passenger car sales of the country in April 2011-February 2012 increased by 0.31 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, during April 2011-February 2012 India's passenger car exports grew by 16.2 percent and commercial vehicle exports increased by 28.2 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
