Indian domestic passenger car sales up 8.45 percent in Dec

According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Indian passenger car production in December 2011 registered growth of 10.91 percent as compared to December 2010. In the first nine months of the current Indian fiscal year (started April 1, 2011) India's passenger car output rose 14.94 percent over the same period last year.

In December 2011, domestic passenger car sales in India increased by 8.45 percent year on year, while the country's domestic passenger car sales recorded for April-December 2011 decreased by 2.28 percent, also year on year.

On the other hand, India's commercial vehicle domestic sales in December 2011 rose by 14.5 percent compared to the same month of 2010. The total commercial vehicle domestic sales of the country in April-December 2011 increased by 19.28 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, during April-December 2011, India's passenger car exports grew by 18.14 percent and commercial vehicle exports increased by 24.66 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
