Indian domestic passenger car sales up 8.86 percent in Jan

According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Indian motor vehicle production in January this year registered growth of 11.25 percent as compared to January 2011. In the first 10 months of the current Indian fiscal year (started April 1, 2011), India's motor vehicle output rose 14.6 percent over the same period last year.
 
In January of the current year, motor vehicle sales in India increased by 12.2 percent year on year, while the country's motor vehicle sales recorded for April 2011-January 2012 increased by 12.5 percent, also year on year.
 
On the other hand, India's domestic sales of passenger cars in January this year rose by 8.86 percent compared to the same month of 2011, while total domestic passenger car sales of the country in April 2011-January 2012 increased by 1.45 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, during April 2011-January 2012, India's passenger car exports grew by 20.6 percent and commercial vehicle exports increased by 27.6 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
