In October this year, Japan’s hot rolled plate and sheet shipments were down by 1.5 percent compared to the previous month and down by 5.9 percent from 739,827 mt recorded in the same month of 2023, amounting to 695,651 metric tons, according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) data. In the given month, 71.0 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 29.0 percent were made to the export markets. In the given month, Japan’s hot rolled plate and sheet production amounted to 676,397 mt, increasing by 2.6 percent month on month and down by 3.7 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in October Japan’s hot rolled strip shipments amounted to 1.17 million mt, moving down by 6.4 percent both month on month and year on year. 23.4 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 76.6 percent were made to the export markets. In the given month, Japan’s hot rolled strip production amounted to 1.16 million mt, up by 1.9 percent month on month and down by 10.2 percent year on year.
