Jiuli Pipe to supply stainless steel casing to Hudong-Zhonghua

Zhejiang Province-based Chinese pipe producer Jiuli Stainless Steel Pipe Co. (Jiuli Pipe) has announced that it recently signed a contract for the supply of stainless steel casing for application in low-temperature environments on LNG (liquefied natural gas) carriers with Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., a subsidiary of state-owned China Shipbuilding Group Corporation (CSSC).

According to the company, Jiliu Pipe will deliver the stainless steel casings in question for four 172,000 m³ capacity LNG carriers built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding. The stainless steel casings, worth a total of RMB 460 million ($72.56 million), are to be delivered in 2013.

Juliu Pipe also stated that construction is continuing on its project for production of large diameter (above 9 m) steel pipes for LNG transportation. Production is scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2013
