In July this year, Mexico's car and light commercial vehicle production volume decreased by 9.6 percent compared to June but increased by 8.5 percent year on year to 259,634 units, according to the release from the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA). In the given month, the country's car and light vehicle exports rose by 20.2 percent year on year to 231,934 units.
Meanwhile, in the first seven months of the current year, Mexico's car and light commercial vehicle production increased by 7.5 percent year on year to 1,857,228 units. In the given period, the country's car and light commercial vehicle exports indicated a rise of 11.2 percent year on year to 1,505,505 units.
In January-July this year, Mexico's exports of cars and light commercial vehicles to Asia, Canada and the US increased by 36.6 percent, 21.7 percent and 19.7 percent respectively, year on year. Meanwhile, in the same period, year-on-year decreases were observed in exports to destinations such as Africa, Europe and Latin America, down 81.5 percent, 38.5 percent and 9.2 percent respectively.
As for domestic sales, in July this year, Mexico's cars and light commercial vehicle sales increased by 11 percent year on year to 96,211 units. In the first seven months of this year, 596,571 cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in the domestic market, up 1.3 percent year on year.
