In December, Mexico's car and light commercial vehicle production volume decreased by 26.8 percent compared to November and rose by 27 percent year on year to 208,498 units, according to the release from the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA). In the given month, the country's car and light vehicle exports increased by 21 percent year on year to 195,091 units.
Meanwhile, in 2014, Mexico's car and light commercial vehicle production increased by 9.8 percent year on year to 3,219,786 units. In the given period, the country's car and light commercial vehicle exports indicated a rise of 9.1 percent year on year to 2,642,887 units.
During 2014, Mexico's exports of cars and light commercial vehicles to Canada, Asia and the US increased by 37.2 percent, 45.3 percent and 13.9 percent respectively, year on year. Meanwhile, in the same period, year-on-year decreases were observed in exports to destinations such as Africa, Europe and Latin America, down 75.8 percent, 31.9 percent and 18.8 percent respectively.
As for domestic sales, in December last year, Mexico's cars and light commercial vehicle sales increased by 11.7 percent year on year to 133,273 units. In 2014, 1,135,409 cars and light commercial vehicles were sold in the domestic market, up 6.8 percent year on year.
