South Africa’s base metal export value up 8.7 percent in Jan-Sept

According to data released by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), in September this year the value of South Africa's exports of base metals and articles thereof totaled ZAR 13.01 billion ($892 million), down 5.4 percent from August. In the January-September period of this year, South Africa's export value of base metals and articles thereof increased by 8.7 percent year on year to ZAR 111.57 billion ($7.65 billion).

In September of the current year, the country's imports of base metals and articles thereof amounted to ZAR 5.5 billion ($377 million), decreasing by 2.1 percent from the previous month, while in the first nine months of this year South African imports of base metals and articles thereof rose by 0.1 percent year on year, amounting to ZAR 44.79 billion ($3.07 billion).
