According to data released by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), in October this year the value of South Africa's exports of base metals and articles thereof totaled ZAR 13.44 billion ($985 million), up 3.5 percent from September. In the January-October period of this year, South Africa's export value of base metals and articles thereof increased by 9.2 percent year on year to ZAR 125.01 billion ($9.16 billion).
In October of the current year, the country's imports of base metals and articles thereof amounted to ZAR 6.08 billion ($446 million), increasing by 10.5 percent from the previous month, while in the first ten months of this year South African imports of base metals and articles thereof rose by 2.4 percent year on year, amounting to ZAR 50.88 billion ($3.72 billion).
