In December, rebar exports accounted for 46.5 percent of Turkey's total steel product exports, while billet exports constituted 14.3 percent, exports of steel section made up 9.6 percent, exports of steel pipes and fitting parts constituted 8.9 percent, wire rod exports accounted for 7.5 percent and flat steel exports accounted for 2.8 percent.
On the other hand, in 2011 the country's total steel product exports reached 18.14 million metric tons, while the revenue generated by these exports amounted to $15.35 billion, increasing by 4.57 percent and 24.84 percent respectively, both compared to 2010.
In 2011, Turkey's steel product exports to Iraq, its largest market for steel exports, amounted to 1.5 million metric tons, up 28.3 percent year on year, with a value of $1.3 billion, 45.7 percent higher than in 2010. Turkey's steel product exports to the UAE during the period also totaled 1.5 million metric tons, but decreasing 37 percent year on year, with a value of $1 billion, down 26.67 percent year on year. Exports to Italy in 2011 amounted to 1.2 million metric tons, increasing by 126.37 percent year on year, totaling a value of $889.5 million, up 149.3 percent year on year.
