According to a report released by the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS), in July this year the UK's seasonally adjusted production index of manufacturing fell by 0.5 percent compared with July 2011 and was up 3.2 percent compared to the previous month, following a fall of 2.9 percent month on month in June this year.
The largest contributions to the month-on-month rise in manufacturing output came from the manufacture of basic metals and metal products, which rose by 6.2 percent, followed by the manufacture of transport equipment, which rose by 6.3 percent. Meanwhile, in the UK the seasonally adjusted production index of basic metal and metal products rose by 1.7 percent in July this year compared to July 2011.
