US rig count remains the same week-on-week and Canadian rig count decreases

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending on December 20, 2024, the US rotary rig count remained unchanged at 589.

The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by one to 102 and the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by one to 487. The overall US rig count is down by 31 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by twenty-five to 166 rigs in the week ending December 20. The Canadian rig count was up by 20 compared to the same reporting period in the previous year.
