Vietnam’s steel output and sales fall in January-February

According to the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA), in February this year finished steel production in Vietnam totaled 2.35 million mt, increasing by 21.91 percent compared to the previous month and down by 8.9 percent compared to February 2022, while steel product sales in the country in the same month increased by 18.13 percent compared to January and fell by 19.0 percent year on year to 2.08 million mt.

In the January-February period, steel production in Vietnam decreased by 16.3 percent year on year to 4.28 million mt, while steel sales in the country fell by 23.2 percent year on year to 3.85 million mt.

Meanwhile, in January this year, Vietnam’s imports of finished steel decreased by 37.39 percent compared to the previous month and were down by 41.83 percent year on year to 592,000 mt, while the country’s exports of finished steel totaled 672,000 mt, down by 18.24 percent month on month and down by 17.53 percent year on year.
