Brazil's iron ore export volume amounted to 34 million mt in May of the current year, rising by 17.3 percent compared to April and up by 22.8 percent compared to the same month of 2015, according to the information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Brazil's iron ore export value in May totaled $1.34 billion, increasing by 39.6 percent compared to the previous month and up 44.2 percent year on year.
In May, Brazil's export volume of semi-finished products of iron and steel amounted to 876,143 mt, rising by 45.7 percent compared to the previous month and up by 29.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, while these exports were valued at $249.9 million, increasing by 64 percent compared to April and up 0.4 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in May Brazil's flat steel exports totaled 180,784 metric tons, falling by 31.6 percent from April and down by 40 percent year on year. The revenue generated by these exports totaled $99.9 million, falling by 15.6 percent month on month and down 44 percent from the May 2015 level.
