In the January-June period this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output in China amounted to 18.86 million dead weight tons (dwt), down 28.9 percent year on year, as announced by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI). In the given period, China’s new ship orders amounted to 22.7 million dwt, increasing by 97.2 percent year on year. As of the end of June, ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 91.07 million dwt, up 9.9 percent year on year.
In the January-June period this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders in China totaled 17.39 million dead weight tons (dwt), down 30.8 percent year on year and accounting for 92.2 percent of the total shipbuilding output in China in the given period. Meanwhile, China’s new ship export orders in the period in question amounted to 20.48 million dwt, increasing by 102 percent year on year and constituting 90.2 percent of total new ship orders. As of the end of June, ship export orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 81.23 million dwt, up 5.9 percent year on year and constituting 89.2 percent of total ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises.
