In the January-October period this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output in China amounted to 30.23 million dead weight tons (dwt), down 14.0 percent year on year, as announced by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI). In the given period, China’s new ship orders amounted to 28.46 million dwt, increasing by 41.4 percent year on year. As of the end of October, ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 85.46 million dwt, up 5.2 percent year on year.
In the January-October period this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders in China totaled 27.72 million dwt, down 20.2 percent year on year and accounting for 91.7 percent of the total shipbuilding output in China in the given period. Meanwhile, China’s new ship export orders in the period in question amounted to 25.30 million dwt, increasing by 25.2 percent year on year and constituting 88.9 percent of total new ship orders. As of the end of October, ship export orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 75.80 million dwt, up 0.4 percent year on year and constituting 88.7 percent of total ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises.
