In the January-November period this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output in China amounted to 32.93 million dead weight tons (dwt), down 17.4 percent year on year, as announced by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI). In the given period, China’s new ship orders amounted to 33.06 million dwt, increasing by 30.3 percent year on year. As of the end of November, ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 87.36 million dwt, up 7.0 percent year on year.
In the January-November period this year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders in China totaled 29.93 million dwt, down 19.3 percent year on year and accounting for 90.9 percent of the total shipbuilding output in China in the given period. Meanwhile, China’s new ship export orders in the period in question amounted to 29.75 million dwt, increasing by 29.8 percent year on year and constituting 90.0 percent of total new ship orders. As of the end of November, ship export orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises totaled 78.01 million dwt, up 2.8 percent year on year and constituting 89.3 percent of total ship orders on the books of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises.
