According to the data released by the Japan Ship Exporters’ Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in September this year moved up by 123.7 percent on tonnage basis compared to the previous month, increasing to 21 ships, compared to 14 ships recorded in August, totaling 873,900 gross tons, including 19 carriers and two container ships.
In the first nine months of this year, Japanese shipbuilders received new export orders for a total of 185 ships with an aggregate of 7.14 million gross tons, down 24.2 percent year on year.
On the other hand, in September, Japan delivered 18 ships for export, totaling 752,311 gross tons, compared to nine ships totaling 225,375 gross tons recorded in August.
Meanwhile, in the January-September period this year, Japan delivered 155 ships for export, totaling 6.59 million gross tons, decreasing by 1.1 percent year on year.
