According to the data released by the Japan Ship Exporters’ Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in June this year moved up by 26.3 percent on tonnage basis compared to the previous month, increasing to 54 ships, compared to 35 ships recorded in May, totaling 2.15 million gross tons, including 52 carriers, 1 tanker and 1 general cargo ship.
In the first six months of this year, Japanese shipbuilders received new export orders for a total of 171 ships with an aggregate of 7.37 million gross tons, up 36.7 percent year on year.
On the other hand, in June, Japan delivered 16 ships for export, totaling 771,468 gross tons, compared to 18 ships totaling 611,915 gross tons recorded in May.
Meanwhile, in the January-June period this year, Japan delivered 105 ships for export, totaling 4.25 million gross tons, decreasing by 4.5 percent year on year.
