Mexican auto output up 7.4 percent in H1

In June this year, Mexico's car and light commercial vehicle production volume remained almost stable compared to May and increased by 7.9 percent year on year to 287,344 units, according to the release from the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA). In the given month, the country's car and light vehicle exports rose by 2.1 percent year on year to 230,410 units.

Meanwhile, in the first half of the current year, Mexico's car and light commercial vehicle production increased by 7.4 percent year on year to 1,597,594 units. In the given period, the country's car and light commercial vehicle exports indicated a rise of 9.7 percent year on year to 1,273,571 units.

In the first half of this year, Mexico's exports of cars and light commercial vehicles to Canada, Asia and the US increased by 27.3 percent and 25.2 percent and 16.5 respectively, year on year. Meanwhile, in the same period, year-on-year decreases were observed in exports to destinations such as Africa, Europe and Latin America, down 80.1 percent, 35.3 percent and 5.1 percent respectively.
