In the January-July period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output of 51 major shipbuilding enterprises in China amounted to 17.78 million dead weight tons (dwt), down 15.3 percent year on year, as announced by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI). In the given period, new ship orders of the 51 major shipbuilding enterprises amounted to 16.50 million dwt, increasing by 30.7 percent year on year. As of the end of July, ship orders on the books of the shipbuilding enterprises totaled 112.82 million dwt, down 15.9 percent year on year.
In the January-July period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders of the 51 major shipbuilding enterprises in China totaled 16.36 million dead weight tons (dwt), down 13.4 percent year on year. Meanwhile, new ship export orders of the shipbuilding enterprises in the period in question amounted to 14.01 million dwt, increasing by 31.4 percent year on year. As of the end of July, ship export orders on the books of the 51 major shipbuilding enterprises totaled 107.18 million dwt, down 16 percent year on year.
